| The Future Oz EpisodeAt the end of All Fall Down Part 2, we saw bent copper DS Don Beech, undergo a dramatic change of image before fleeing to Australia after killing colleague DS John Boulton and almost being caught by DS Stanton, who was working with the CIB.In a special 90-minute-long episode we'll get to see Clare pursuing Beech through Sydney, and then there'll be a six-part storyline (I think) when Beech returns to London. But will she catch her man?
I have it on very reliable information that Clare has been promoted to Detective Inspector for this episode which should be screened in August/September time (*Toddles of to set the VCR and commondeer another dozen as part of the back-up plan*). The episode is a sort of thank-you to the many Australian fans (Apparently they aren't as critical as the British ones!?!) who made The Bill a huge hit down-under. Fans can get on camera by being in the right place at the right time, but no-smiling, waving or even looking at the camera is allowed. The exposure is also expected to boost tourism in Sydney as there are expceted to be shots of The Opera House, the harbour, the Harbour Bridge, Darlinghurst, the Fish Markets, Darling Harbour, Vaucluse, and have a car chase over Anzac Bridge (oh, and a Vietnamese Buddhist shrine), though the producers are keen to stress that it won't be a glorification of the city or filled with plugs to pull in the tourists. The only English actors will be Billy Murray (DS Beech) and Clara Salaman (if you don't know who she plays you need whacking with a heavy object before reading the rest of this site!) There will be another eighteen Australian actors & actresses who will make up the main cast along with Billy and Clara, including Jeremy Sims and Miles Paras. Paras will play Beech's new girlfriend, Frankie, a Vietnamese-Australian manager of a Kings Cross strip-joint (nice!). Sim's character, McEvoy, "Stanton's Australian good-bloke police counterpart." The Aussie actors are hoping that the publicity will help their careers as, realistically, there aren't many famous actors from downunder. Jonathan Coleman, who has had a minute role as a reporter in the episode A Question Of Trust Part 1 (I think), will also appear as a rich business man on a yacht. One police officer also has a part, but the reat are all professional actors. And I doubt that we'll frequently hear "You're nicked!" as instead of the British slang, we'll be exposed to some Aussie lingo.
